Sounders FC fans can now bid on special, low-numbered team logo plates

Seattle Sounders FC fans have a final chance to buy a low-number Washington state license plate commemorating the team during a special online auction that runs through Dec. 6.

The Association of Washington Generals (AWG) is auctioning specialty license plates FC00006 - FC00012.  The nonprofit AWG is a service organization that acts as official state ambassadors of trade, tourism and goodwill.  A portion of the proceeds from Sounders FC team logo license plate sales will be used to assist National Guard families, youth and children in a number of ways.

The AWG is one of two organizations designated by legislation passed earlier this year to benefit from sales of the Sounders FC logo plate, which officially goes on sale in January.  The state Department of Licensing’s specialty plate program assigns the first 25 plates to the beneficiary organizations for their own use. Washington State Mentors, which is the primary beneficiary of Sounders FC plate sales, sold plate FC00001 for more than $1,700 at an auction in September.

“We were fortunate to be assigned number nine, the jersey typically reserved for the team’s striker, and 10, which often goes to the playmaker,” said Ralph Ibarra, president of the AWG. “We are very grateful to the Seattle Sounders FC organization for providing us with this opportunity for us to help fulfill our mission through this new source of funds.”

Sounders FC fans and anyone else may view and bid on these exceptional license plates by going to the AWG web site at, or directly to the auction site at   Successful bidders will be announced on Dec. 9 and get  their plates in January.
